Christmas & New Year opening times for Taxfile's Dulwich branch, London SE21

Season’s greetings to all of our customers and readers. Our thanks to you for your custom and for being a reader of this blog. We really appreciate it!

Taxfile’s branch in Turney Road (Dulwich) will close for Christmas Day and Boxing Day (Monday 25 & Tuesday 26 December respectively) and also for New Year’s Day (1 January 2018). Apart from that, we’re open 5 days a week as usual. So if you have any tax and accountancy-related issues you’d like our help with, please get in touch. Here’s the full picture:

  • Thursday 21 December: open 10.30am – 6pm
  • Friday 22 December: open 10.30am – 6pm
  • Saturday 23 December: closed
  • Sunday 24 December: closed
  • Monday 25 December (Christmas Day): closed
  • Tuesday 26 December (Boxing Day): closed
  • Wednesday 27 December: open 10.30am – 6pm
  • Thursday 28 December: open 10.30am – 6pm
  • Friday 29 December: open 10.30am – 6pm
  • Saturday 30 December: closed
  • Sunday 31 December: closed
  • Monday 1 January 2018 (New Year’s Day): closed for the Bank Holiday
  • Tuesday 2 January onwards: open as usual Mondays to Fridays 10.30am – 6pm

Taxfile nominated as Finalist in the British Accountancy Awards 2016

Taxfile is delighted to be a Finalist in the ‘Independent Firm of the Year, Greater London‘ category of the sixth annual British Accountancy Awards 2016. It’s a great honour and Taxfile’s Founder, Guy Bridger, would like to pass on his congratulations to all Taxfile staff, particularly Julie, Ewelina, Faiz and Ali, as this is recognition for all their hard work. Taking place on the 29th of November at The Brewery, London, the event promises to be a night to remember with a three-course dinner, guest host and the Awards ceremony itself. Change to permitted VAT return submission methods

Changes to VAT return submission methodsIn a vote for common sense, HMRC has finally relaxed its requirements, under certain circumstances, in respect to the methods it allows for submission of VAT returns. Previously almost* all businesses were forced to submit VAT returns on-line while paper and telephone submission methods were phased out forcibly even for those who did not have access to a viable on-line method. We’re pleased to confirm that HMRC are now relaxing submission requirements for those businesses who can show that the on-line method is not a practical one for their particular circumstances, for example based on limitations caused by age, disability, remoteness, quality of internet connection etc. HMRC now requires those unable to file on-line to file by telephone. And if that’s not practical for similar reasons, they may then be able to submit good old-fashioned paper VAT returns. If HMRC decline both methods, the business or individual concerned will be able to appeal if it thinks it has a reasonable reason to do so.
